Three Little Birds debut in the Bay Area this weekend.

After the mad frenzy at the end of every year passes, many consider January to be a mellow month. In the Bay Area you still have a ton of great options. Some of my favorites this weekend include the debut of Bob Marley's Three Little BirdsGolden Gate Kennel Club Dog Show, and Bay Area International Children's Film Festival.

Friday, January 23

Saturday, January 24

Olompali Bird Walk, 8:30am-Noon, Olompali State Park.

Stafford Winter Classic, 9am – 1pm, show off your game at Stafford’s 2nd Annual Winter Disc Golf Classic! Merit and raffle prizes will be awarded with top honors going to lowest score per 18 holes. This event is ideal for all ages. All skill levels are welcome and no experience is necessary, Stafford Lake Park, 3549 Novato Blvd, Novato.

Creekside Restoration with Save The Bay, 9am – 12pm,ages 5+, learn about the history of San Francisco Bay and Creekside Marsh, and be a part of a community-based effort to enrich important habitat areas of Hal Brown Park! Sunrise Tour of Muir Woods, 7:21-11am, Join us for a three-mile stroll (mostly flat, with a relatively steep section) through an old-growth redwood forest, RSVP 388-2596.

Marine Science Sunday, 10am-5pm, Marine Mammal Center, Sausalito.

Birds for Kids at Las Gallinas, 10am – 12pm, a fantastic place for new birders to get great looks at a variety of birds. The water treatment ponds here are a magnet for ducks in colorful breeding plumage, hawks soar over the surrounding fields, and songbirds flit about the bushes along the levees. Meet at the Las Gallinas Sanitary District water treatment ponds in San Rafael (310 Smith Ranch Road).
