Discovery Day is the annual open house for San Francisco State University's marine research and teaching facility, Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies. It is the one day of the year when the public can visit and spend the day behind the scenes, meet scientists and learn about their research in San Francisco Bay and beyond.

Experience science in action at Marin's local marine laboratory, the Romberg Tiburon Center. Discover some of the innovative marine science projects scientists and students are working on together. Enjoy hand's on learning about the tools of the trade by helping to collect data to answer a research question and peer into a sample of bay water and explore the patterns in nature. Check out their new and improved seagrass nursery tank featuring new interpretive signs with beautiful artwork by a local artist. Collect plankton and view it on microscopes, hold and measure invasive green crabs, enjoy collaborative art projects and design challenges, and be among the first to see the work of the California Coastal Commission's K-12 2017 Coastal Art & Poetry Contest!
