Honoring all women and men who contributed
to the war effort as home front workers
The Rosie the Riveter Trust and the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park will be hosting the annual “Rosie Rally” on August 10th for an enormous polka-dotted community celebration. Original Rosies and their families will attend, along with history buffs, Rosie-the-Riveter enthusiasts, supporters of women in the workforce, local youth groups, national parks members, and community leaders. Public transit is encouraged, including, carpooling, biking and buses-- as parking will be limited; visitors are also encouraged to try the new Richmond-San Francisco ferry. Shuttles from Richmond BART will be available beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Home Front Festival will feature many WWII and park activities, beginning with a meet-and-greet with Rosies who learned new skills and worked locally as riveters, welders, electricians, and draftswomen. The festival also honors men who worked on the home front and all those who supported the war effort during World War II.
More information coming soon. Admission to the Rosie Rally Home Front Festival is completely free! 11 am to 4 pm at the Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way S, Richmond.
