Sonoma County Art Trails Open Studios

Sonoma County Art Trails is its 38th year of bringing artists and art lovers together in the place where the magic happens. Art Trails is a free county wide art tour featuring over a hundred local artists. In 1985, a group of artists started Sonoma County’s first open art studio program, then known as ARTrails. This was a chance to meet some of the county’s finest artists and discover how they create their art, while enjoying the beautiful fall landscape with family and friends. Sonoma County has a rich variety of art and this program brought a way to collect and explore in artists’ unique studios. In 2014, the program officially became known as Sonoma County Art Trails and was adopted by the Sebastopol Center for the Arts - who had been hosting one of the program’s preview exhibitions.

While visitors get to enjoy the art for two weekends each fall, the artists spend much of the year preparing for the big open studios event. The Art Trails Steering Committee is made up of artists who meet monthly to discuss the logistics and processes that make the program a well-oiled machine year after year. The artists in the program volunteer their time helping the program by doing jobs like creating and distributing the collector’s guide, putting up signs across the county, setting up 4 preview exhibitions that you can visit, and mentoring new artists.
