Some of my favorite childhood memories include going to a baseball game with my dad. Every year, as Father’s Day approaches, I reminisce about the great times we had enjoying baseball together. Which is why I am really looking forward to recreating those memories with my daughter by taking her to see the San Rafael Pacifics play at Albert Field in San Rafael. Not only do I love the nostalgia and simplicity of today’s independent ballgames, they also remind me of those bonding times with my dad. Plus they’re an inexpensive and fun outing the whole family will enjoy.

This January, I encourage you to get outside and be apart of the magic that happens when your child has a chance to connect directly with nature by simply being in nature. Children cannot connect to a video game, cell phone or app in the way they do when a ladybug crawls on them, or witnesses a whale breach the water, or see a line of pelicans fly by. Take advantage of the wide variety of opportunities this month to teach, volunteer, and learn about our beautiful spot in the world.
