My daughter loves food and will try anything. Part of having such an adventurous palate stems from knowing where her food comes. Which is why we do everything we can to support our local farms. By visiting the farms and getting to personally know the farmers we have learned how precious our organic farms are.

The Boys of Summer - The San Rafael Pacifics Baseball Club

Some of my favorite childhood memories include going to a baseball game with my dad. Every year, as Father’s Day approaches, I reminisce about the great times we had enjoying baseball together. Which is why I am really looking forward to recreating those memories with my daughter by taking her to see the San Rafael Pacifics play at Albert Field in San Rafael. Not only do I love the nostalgia and simplicity of today’s independent ballgames, they also remind me of those bonding times with my dad. Plus they’re an inexpensive and fun outing the whole family will enjoy.

Cal Day

Cal Day, U.C. Berkeley’s annual open house extravaganza is on Saturday, April 12th, 9am-5pm. Every year, the university opens its lecture halls, research labs, museums, sports fields, libraries, galleries and gardens FREE to the public. Students and faculty showcase the many departments and clubs with a wide range of AWESOME kid-friendly activities.

On Saturday, February 15, 2014, experience the sights and sounds of Chinatown during the community’s most exciting time of the year, the Chinese New Year Parade! Steeped in legends and stories, the parade has been an annual tradition for San Francisco since the days of the Gold Rush. To avoid being overwhelmed, here are my recommendations.

This January, I encourage you to get outside and be apart of the magic that happens when your child has a chance to connect directly with nature by simply being in nature. Children cannot connect to a video game, cell phone or app in the way they do when a ladybug crawls on them, or witnesses a whale breach the water, or see a line of pelicans fly by. Take advantage of the wide variety of opportunities this month to teach, volunteer, and learn about our beautiful spot in the world.
