Menlo Park: King Tides at Ravenswood Unit

  • Don Edwards San Francisco Bay NWR - Ravenswood Unit Menlo Park, CA 94025 (map)

Come out to the Refuge to observe & record the King Tides event!

The January 2026 King Tides event is being held concurrently in two different locations on the Refuge: Ravenswood Unit and Alviso. The same content will be covered. Visit our Eventbrite page if you want to attend the Alviso event instead.

The King Tides Walk will take place within the Refuge's Ravenswood Unit, which includes two areas: the Flyway Trail and the Pond SF2 Trail. . The exact meeting location will be shared closer to the event date and will depend on site accessibility conditions.

Join us at the Refuge's Ravenswood Unit for a guided walk and discover how the highest tides of the year give us a glimpse into the future of sea level rise. We'll learn what King Tides are, how sea level rise is reshaping our coastal communities, why habitat restoration matters and how you can contribute as a community scientist.

We’ll walk along Refuge trails, observe plant adaptations and discuss the impacts of rising oceans. You’ll also learn how to contribute to the California Coastal Commission's King Tides Project by uploading photos through the Survey123 app - a statewide effort to record changes to our coast and estuaries. Your photos will be added to a map of this season's King Tides photos.

This interactive event is suitable for all ages and will take place rain or shine.
