San Francisco: Lunar New Year Celebration: Lion Dancing

  • Asian Art Museum 200 Larkin Street San Francisco, CA, 94102 United States (map)

Celebrate Lunar New Year with lions, laughter, and good luck courtesy of the Lion Dance Team from UC Berkeley’s Vietnamese Student Association. A traditional art form in Vietnamese and Chinese culture, the lion dance combines movement and martial arts in a playful and spectacular experience for all ages. In addition to two dynamic lion dance performances and all-day Mahjong, a large-scale Chinese brush painting demonstration (of a horse, of course!) by Pauline Tsui offers inspiration for Lunar-New-Year-themed art activities.
