National Night Out is a nationwide event designed to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Occurring on the first Tuesday of August annually, millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out events across thousands of communities in all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide. The City of Palo Alto is proud to be one of these communities.

Check back on this website in May or June for details on National Night Out 2025!

It will likely be similar to the 2023 event, where we hosted gatherings at two parks in town.  At both locations, we had games, emergency vehicles on display (including police cars, vehicles from the Palo Alto Fire Department and the Office of Emergency Services, as well as animal control and park ranger trucks) and plenty of police personnel with whom residents could chat.  Also, you can choose to host your own National Night Out-themed event in your neighborhood that night, and we'll do our best to swing by to visit!
