Ring in the New Year in an unforgettable way. Join the California State Parks' annual tradition of watching the year’s first sunrise at a state park, and do it this year at China Camp.. We'll hike to a spectacular vantage point overlooking the bay. We’ll also read any wishes or poems the group may have to welcome 2024, so bring yours to share.

Wear sturdy hiking shoes and dress in layers for changeable weather. Bring a fully-charged flashlight or headlamp (hike starts before sunrise), a full water bottle, and your camera. 

NOTE: This hike begins sharply at 6:30 a.m. for a 7:26 a.m. sunrise, so don’t be late or you’ll miss the fun. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in. Pets are not allowed on our trails, so please leave your four-legged family members at home. Event may be canceled due to inclement weather or poor trail conditions.
