For the past decade, Black Diamond Ballet has performed a full-length Nutcracker choreographed by Sharon Sobel Idul. Black Diamond Ballet is dedicated to preserving and promoting classical ballet through professional performances, dance classes, and outreach demonstrations. Its primary purpose is to provide access with intentional focus on equity, representation, and inclusion through ballet to all in East Contra Costa County. Join our cast of over 40 professional dancers, local cultural performers, student dancers, and community members for this holiday classic!

Approximate Running Time for Public Shows: 2 hrs (with one 20-min intermission)
      In addition to their full-length shows, Black Diamond Ballet offers a special Sensory-Friendly performance. At our sensory-friendly performance of our 11th Annual Nutcracker ballet, sensory modifications are balanced with preserving an engaging theatre experience for all individuals and their families.

The sensory-friendly performance is designed especially for individuals with autism spectrum disorders, sensory sensitivities, or other disabilities.
  - House lights will remain at a low level during the performance
  - Reduction of loud sounds
  - Reduction of flashing or jarring lights
  - Sensory support (fidgets, earplugs) are available to audience members upon request
  - A quiet area is designated in the lobby. Audience members may exit and re-enter as needed
  - A relaxed atmosphere: audience members can vocalize and talk throughout the performance
  - Audience members are welcome to bring their own manipulatives, seat cushions, comfort objects, and extra support items.
  - Tablets, smart phones, and other electronic devices will be allowed with headphones during the performance
