Ride Details

πŸ“… Date: Saturday, December 20th. Meet at 6:30 PM for the pre-ride talk and roll out by 7:00 PM, returning by 8:30 PM at the latest. Best to arrive early so you don't get left behind!

🧭 Location: We change locations each year so we can feature different parts of Sunnyvale. This year we'll start at Columbia Park in Sunnyvale in the paved area behind Columbia Middle School. This festive journey will cover a scenic sub-10-mile loop. The exact route will be released a few days before the event so we can include as many festive houses as we can.

🚲 How We Ride: We will navigate the streets as a slow rolling musical bicycle bus (we will all stay grouped together) and will occasionally stop for pictures. Volunteer lead riders, sound sytem riders, sweep riders, and outriders will help guide and keep everyone organized in a compact group.

🧀 Attire: Please dress in warm layers to keep cozy while we ride! We recommend long sleeves, leggings under your pants, gloves, and beanies or caps under your helmet. Bicycle helmets are required.

🚴 Bicycles: No bicycles with training wheels or kid tricycles. Adult tricycles are ok.

πŸ’‘Lights: All bicycles must have at least a white front light and red rear reflector. Since this is a lights ride, the more lights the better! Please decorate your bicycles with lots and lots of holiday lights.

☁️☁️ Weather: Rain or thunderstorms cancel the ride but we might ride when roads are still wet. Check emails from Eventbrite for last minute updates and news.

πŸ™‹πŸ™‹ Ride Support: These are ride volunteers who help manage the bicycle bus -- they are critical for having a large successful ride. Any somewhat experienced rider with a cell phone who can show up 30 minutes early should qualify. If you'd like to help, please get a Volunteer Ride Support ticket instead of a regular participant ticket! Roles include lead riders (who set the pace), sweep riders (who serve as the rear bicycle bus bumper and tell lead riders to go slower or faster), and outriders (who push walk light buttons, hold some intersections while the bike bus passes thru, and generally do sheep dog duty). Volunteer riders stay coordinated via a group conference call so it helps if you have a good hands free cell phone listening/speaking option while your ride that leaves at least 1 ear uncovered. Thanks!

🌟 Experience the Magic: Immerse yourself in the enchanting holiday lights as we explore Sunnyvale. You'll be amazed by the stunning displays that light up the night.

πŸŽ„ Spread the Cheer: This is not just a bike ride; it's a chance to spread joy, positivity, and the holiday spirit throughout the community.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ All Ages: Everyone is welcome but minors must have their parents permission and those 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Mark your calendars, invite your friends and family, and let's pedal together into the holiday season! Don't miss this fun cheery ride through the holiday lights. Get your bikes and warm cloths ready, and we'll see you at Columbia Park. Remember, the more, the merrier, so spread the word and share the joy! This ride is limited to 200 people total including volunteers. So if you sign up, show up or cancel your reservation so others can participate.

We look forward to riding with you and enjoying some holiday cheer!
