Join the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers at Rock Spring parking lot for an evening of stargazing. Telescopes will be set up to provide beautiful views of celestial treasures including magnificent Saturn with its rings, deep sky objects like the Great Cluster in Hercules, the Lagoon Nebula and the distant Andromeda Galaxy. We will find our place in the cosmos by understanding how the Earth moves through space and learning to recognize bright stars and constellations.

Dress in warm layers, bring binoculars and a red flashlight if you have them, but most of all your curiosity! 

Parents please ensure children are supervised around delicate optical equipment.

Our club has something fun and interesting for all to do, whether a beginner or an experienced amateur. Our members are Bay Area enthusiasts who love the varied aspects of our hobby – public outreach, star viewing trips, astrophotography, scientific lectures, telescope making, as well as private members-only dark sky viewing nights and more.

The SFAA has been operating since 1952 and proudly continues a long tradition of helping promote the appreciation of the wonders of the night sky within our Bay Area community. SFAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
