Asian Heritage Street Celebration

  • Larkin Street, Ellis St, Jones St, Golden Gate Ave San Francisco, CA United States (map)

Streets in San Francisco’s Civic Center area will be closed to vehicle traffic to make room for a stage showcasing traditional and contemporary performances as well as many other activities, such as the Faces of Asia cultural procession featuring ethnic attire. The Asian Art Museum is also featuring special programming and free admission 10:30a-4p.

This Year of the Dog marks the return of the Asian Heritage Street Celebration, which completed a twelve-year cycle, and took a hiatus in 2017. This year’s Asian heritage activities are presented by the Chinese Culture Center, whose mission is “elevating under-served communities and giving voice to equality through education and contemporary art.” CCC is partnering with Sunday Streets SF, which has been reclaiming car-congested streets for community health by transforming them into temporary car-free spaces for all to enjoy since 2008.

Performers, artists, small businesses, nonprofits, sponsors, city agencies and community groups are invited to host activities, showcase their work, and provide information to the public. Volunteers are also needed.
