On Sunday, October 4, San Francisco Youth Ballet and Sunset Choreographers will present the inaugural Sunset Mid-Autumn Dance Festival, a one-performance program bringing together emerging Sunset-based choreographers, professional Bay Area artists, and young dancers from the San Francisco Youth Ballet Academy.
The 70-minute program takes place at 2:00pm at the CAIS Theater (formerly Mercy High School), 3250 19th Ave, and combines classical and contemporary dance in a family-friendly program celebrating the artistic community of San Francisco's west side.
The program features choreography by Ria Fifield, Tai Lum, Eli Shi, and Sophia West, with works exploring manifestation, ritual and devotion, intergenerational family storytelling, and finding stability amid change.
We thought the festival might be of particular interest as a new west-side arts initiative during the Mid-Autumn season, bringing together professional and emerging artists with youth performers in a single afternoon program.
There is only one performance.
