Each year, over 1,000 cities across the globe join in the festivities on June 21st. The tradition began 42 years ago in France, when the country's Ministry of Culture established a holiday that invites everyone to participate—whether by playing music or hosting performances—in honor of the summer solstice.
Celebrated on June 21, Make Music San José coincides with festivities in more than one thousand cities worldwide as part of Make Music Day.
Ring in the summer with a worldwide day of music! On June 21, celebrate Make Music Oakland on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the city, with music performed by anyone and free for everyone.
