National Ice Cream Day

If you are in need of some ice cream right about now you’re in luck. National Ice Cream Day is Sunday, July 21 and nothing beats the dog days of summer heat like icy cold fresh ice cream. What ever churns you on, I’ve got the scoop around the Bay Area to sprinkle on your taste buds and celebrate #NationalIceCreamDay.

First 25 people at other Bay Area shops

At 12pm on Sunday, July 21st, Smitten Ice Cream is partnering with Cherry Bombe - the national indie magazine covering women in food - to debut a new ice cream named Surfer Girl, featuring a blue butterfly pea flower tea ice cream mixed with cherry cookie dough. In an effort to minimize waste, the new flavor is only offered in a waffle cone with an edible spoon or to-go in reusable glass jar. 25% of profits from the flavor will be donated to the Surfrider Foundation, which works to protect and maintain national coastlines and beaches.

Post photos with your Surfer Girl ice cream cones with the hashtag #coneonly, and be entered to win surf gear and an ice cream sundae kit.
