Top Five Things to Do at the Randall Museum

The Randall Museum is a natural history museum, science museum and arts center in one, offering hands-on learning through exhibits and classes in science, nature and art to all ages. The museum has many fun things to do with kids and adults alike, including live animal encounters and drop-in activities.

Bug Day

SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 2020, 10AM-2PM Hurray! The bugs are back! Check out the incredible extravaganza of insects at the Randall Museum’s annual Bug Day and celebrate everything insect with hands-on science and art activities, games, entertainment, and more!

Join in the insect-inspired fun and learn how important these little creatures are to the earth and to our survival here. Kids and their families can make their own fabulous bug-related crafts to take home, see and touch live exotic insects, take a scientific look at insects through microscopes, compete in the Insect Olympics, and perhaps even EAT a bug or two.

Meet the Animal Keepers

Venture into the Randall Museum’s new live animal exhibit, Wild in California Saturdays at 2 pm, and join one of the animal keepers in an open discussion about the museum’s wildlife residents. Learn how the keepers care for the animals and how and where these creatures live in the wild. Kids and families will meet some of the animals up-close and can ask the keeper questions to find out more about their favorites. Visitors can meet a snake, check out a barn owl, or maybe even touch a tortoise.

Saturday Science

Science learning is most effective when combined with an unmistakable “WOW!” Come to drop-in Science Saturdays at the Randall Museum’s science studio to get enthralled by simple science topics presented through project-based activities. Let’s build a rocket to launch or learn about amazing polymers by making a special type of goo. Most classes produce a fun project to take home and continue the discoveries. $10 per adult/child combo; $5 per each additional person. Ages 3 and up. Children 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Afternoon Art

Drop in on Saturdays anytime between 1 and 3:30 pm to join in a variety of fun hands-on art and craft projects. All ages are welcome to participate in this interactive community-learning environment with a Randall Museum art instructor. A different activity is featured each week. Afternoon Art is a great way to get a taste of Randall Museum programs!
