Step Back in Time: Discover the Charm of River Fox Train’s Vintage Experiences

There is a certain magic that comes with being in old locomotives. In a day and age where new electronics are constantly evolving, modes of transportation are also changing. Gone are the warm welcoming interiors, the beautiful decoration, the seats built for comfort, and the lovely experiences. That is, unless you know where to look. If you want gorgeous views along with several curated experiences, ranging from murder mystery nights, to beer cars, to boba tastings, consider giving the River Fox Train a visit. Recently, the team at River Fox Train held an open house showcasing experiences in train cars ranging from fifty to one hundred years old. The following is a summary of those experiences.

The Handrail

The only upsetting part about the handrail, was that the full ride was not available at the open house. After signing an NDA, guests will be taken to the tracks where the handrails are kept. The handrails are guided by two volunteers, one in the front, and one behind the guest’s carts. After the rules are carefully explained, visitors are encouraged to pedal away! Don’t feel like working too hard for the trip? One great part about the handrail is that the difficulty is up to the passengers. There is a button on the right side that propels the carts forward without having to pedal at all. Whether guests decide to get to work or to leisurely enjoy the breeze, this trip includes beautiful views of Sacramento farmland and wildlife. From birds, to goats, to coyotes, there are many things to see and appreciate. The entire experience lasts an hour and promises to be a relaxing, lovely time.

Afternoon Tea Train

The open house ended with the afternoon tea train. Both children and adults are free to enjoy this car and should feel encouraged to dress for the occasion. The tea service is two hours long, with many samples of tea available to try. Additionally, the food available is delightful. Salami, chicken salad, and mint cucumber finger sandwiches are the perfect accents to the tea. The tea train changes its menu with the season, meaning that certain menus will only be available for a couple months. From the beautifully decorated car to the tea timers available at each booth, this experience has everything you need for tea time. Additionally, the staff is incredibly affable and polite. Paired with the beautiful countryside, this train experience promises to be a relaxing, happy time.

A Timeless Journey: Where History, Charm, and Adventure Meet

It is amazing that guests can still come see this piece of history. There is something magical about having tea in a train car that is over half a decade old, and using a handrail to explore Sacramento farmland. What a relief to know that the machines of old still have a place in today’s world, and it might just get more people out of the house and having fun. The River Fox Train is located at 18095 Co Rd 117, West Sacramento for those who want to visit. Just conduct yourself in a proper manner, and enjoy the view.

Boba Tea Train

Despite many experiences being catered to adult tastes, there is still plenty here for kiddos and adults to enjoy. The boba tea train works just like a wine or beer car would. There are several flavors of boba made available to the guests, with food and other sweets available for purchase. At the open house, seven flavors of boba were made available to guests in tiny cups, all locally sourced from ShareTea Davis. The car was completely decorated in spring and boba related paraphernalia setting the perfect scene for a tapioca filled afternoon. If any guests want to spend an afternoon with their children enjoying the views while sipping on many tasty drinks, this might just be the perfect way to spend a day.

The Old Vine Express

This is the ticket for when you need a night away from the kids. What better way to celebrate than taking a two hour train ride through California while enjoying wine, locally sourced beer, and charcuterie boards? Beer is supplied by New Glory and Urban Roots, both breweries are located right here in Sacramento. There are a plethora of flavors available like the Mexican Logger from Urban Roots, or the Gummy Worm flavor from New Glory. Along with the staff being very warm and informative, there is also food that comes along with the experience supplied by community partners. But that’s not all folks, wine is available too, alongside a curated menu. The wine collection is also from local vineyards. Some of the wine available is made by one of the owners of the River Fox Train (9 West Wines). The best part about the Old Vine Express is the focus on togetherness and mingling. No solitary confinement here- the experience is shared and better for it. Not only will guests enjoy new wine, beer, and food pairings, they might end the night with new friends.
