The Breath Project

The Breath Project Virtual Festival is a new theatrical initiative in response to the current global spotlight on racial injustice against Black people on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 in partnership with local favorite Marin Theatre Company and 23 other theater companies across the United States. This FREE festival features 24 world premieres created by multidisciplinary theater artists of color —ranging from monologues to slam poetry to puppetry to dance activism—and all are 8 minutes and 46 seconds in length, a symbol stemming from the death of George Floyd and the racial injustice faced by countless members of the Black community across the United States and world.

Marin Theatre Company is honored to be a part of the Breath Project. The vision and ambition of what Gamal and Marieke have created and the power and depth of the work that has been created by artists from around the country are exactly what the country needs at this moment. I urge you to watch all of the remarkable pieces that populate the archive and attend as much of the Festival as you can.
— Jasson Minadakis, Artistic Director Marin Theatre Company
