Marin: Christmas Bird Count

  • Dance Palace 503 B Street Point Reyes Station, CA, 94956 United States (map)

WHAT IS THE CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT?

Each year in late December or early January, thousands of volunteers around the world disperse to local bird “count circles” to count all the birds they observe throughout the day. The tradition of the Christmas Bird Count, which began in 1900, brings together birders and conservationists in one of the longest-running citizen science projects in the United States. To date the Audubon Christmas Bird Count is in it’s 126th year!

The 2025 Point Reyes Christmas Bird Count is on Saturday, December 20th 2025, and we will be doing the compilation dinner at the Dance Palace again!

We are hoping for a pretty typical CBC, rain or shine! We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone out and counting.

COUNT DINNER INFO:

The dinner at the Dance Palace will be held this year, as it has in the past, after the count at 5pm. Due to rising food costs we have had to increase the price for dinner $23 per person, this year. Please understand that these costs go entirely into towards catering and rental space fees – we do not make any profit from this event, in fact we usually end up having to pay a little bit out of pocket.

Please Remember: bring your own plates and utensils!

VERY IMPOTANT: if you want to attend the dinner you must register below and coplete payment hrough Paypal as soon as possible so that the organizers do not have to pay out of pocket for expenses. Your support with this procees is greatly appreciated!
