The goal of each of the Museum’s educational program is to use our unique environment to teach science and history concepts in an interactive and fun manner and each program features a tour and hands-on activities.

Scavenger Hunt Overnight - Hunt for the Grey Ghost, April 18 – 19, 2025

Discover the secrets of the Grey Ghost as you hunt for clues on our second deck and Hanger Bays during a 2.5-hour organized scavenger hunt as you embark on a thrilling quest to find hidden facts and history. Search the ship’s nooks and crannies, uncovering secrets and learning fascinating facts about the USS Hornet’s history.  As you explore, you’ll feel a deep connection to the men and women who served aboard this vessel, their stories echoing through the ship’s walls.

Friday, May 9, 2025: Sleepovers start at 6 pm and continue until 8 am the following morning.

Pitch your tent at our coastal meadow campsite overlooking the ocean. Camping is available Friday and Saturday night when combined with Family Farm Day attendance. Camp one night or two - your choice!

This is a wonderful opportunity for your family to extend your time enjoying the trails, tide pools, plants and animals of Slide Ranch. Camping is not supported by Slide Ranch staff, so be sure to bring your own tent, camping gear, food, games and activities. No pets allowed.

Camping associated with a Family Farm Day must be booked as an add-on to a Family Farm Day ticket.

Then come and spend the day or night on the historic WWII Liberty ship The SS Jeremiah O’Brien located at Pier 35 Fisherman’s Wharf. Come and visit this living memorial to WWII history. Spend the night in the same bunks used by the Submariners, enjoy a personalized tour from bow to stern including the engine room, Torpedo Room, Control Room, and Conning Tower, and take in the sights of the San Francisco waterfront.
