Sanctuary Explorations: Geology Walk- Faults & Fossils

Over 5 million years of heat, pressure, tectonics, winds and pounding Paci c have sculpted the intertidal zone near Half Moon Bay into a fascinating rock garden. Join geologist Irina Kogan and a Greater Farallones naturalist to explore the active San Gregorio fault zone. Amid this dynamic beauty, learn how the coast is still evolving. Become a “shoreline sleuth” in search of fossils from ancient sea creatures that lived in and near these rocks.
