A Beloved Family Tradition in the Sierras
High Sierra Music Festival returns for its 33rd year from July 3–6, 2025, promising an unforgettable experience for music lovers and families alike. Set against the backdrop of the scenic Feather River Canyon and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this 4-day celebration at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds transforms into a joyful playground for all ages—blending music, nature, creativity, and family connection.
Known for its welcoming community and immersive atmosphere, High Sierra is a favorite among parents seeking a festival where kids can thrive. Daily whimsical parades, a vibrant Family Village packed with puppet shows, crafts, and musical games, and the professional care of Rockin’ Nannies make this festival as exciting for children as it is relaxing for adults. Easy access to rivers, forest trails, and the natural wonders of the Sierras adds even more adventure.
With fewer than 10,000 attendees, High Sierra remains a uniquely intimate experience in a world of massive festivals. The festival features artist tributes, acoustic Troubadour Sessions, collaborative Playshops, late-night jam sessions, yoga, art installations, and plenty of spontaneous fun across the grounds. Families can enjoy communal swimming, theme camps, and the famous Dr. Bronner’s Magic Foam Experience, all while feasting on healthy, delicious fare from a variety of food vendors.
This year’s lineup includes Molly Tuttle, Lyrics Born, ALO, Dogs in a Pile, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, and rising star Grace Bowers & The Hodge Podge. Other highlights include John Craigie, Mikaela Davis, The Slip, Steve Poltz, and a special performance by Amy Helm and the Helm Midnight Family Ramble—its first time outside of the legendary barn Levon Helm made famous in Woodstock. Members of the Trey Anastasio Band will also appear in various projects, with Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman, and LaMP among the highlights.
The 2025 lineup is nearly complete, with just two slots remaining: the Sunday night closer and the winner of the High Sierra Band Contest. “High Sierra is more than a festival—it’s a shared celebration,” says producer Dave Margulies. “We work hard to create an event where kids and parents alike can build lifelong memories, discover new music, and connect with nature and community.”
New for 2025:
· The Lagniappe, an indoor venue with lounge seating, cocktails, and music
· Later daily start times and expanded shade at the Grandstand Stage
· The Happy Glamper, a premium glamping option with climate control
· Enhanced Ambassador Program and FestivALL VIP Pass perks
“High Sierra is a musical playground,” says Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz. “It’s where unforgettable family moments and musical collaborations collide.” Steve Poltz adds, “Just walking the grounds is an adventure—hugs, dancing, joy—it feeds the soul.”
