Join Bay Area author Maggie Tokuda-Hall for a conversation about Japanese American representation, authenticity and the writing process. Tokuda-Hall is the author of the children's picture book Love in the Library, which recounts the story of her grandparentsโ€™ time in the Minidoka incarceration camp. The book memorializes her grandparentsโ€™ hopes, worries, and miraculous act of falling in love, despite being held captive in a place designed to make them feel inhuman. Tokuda-Hall will be in conversation with an SFPL librarian. 

A limited number of copies of Love in the Library, will be given to attendees. 

Maggie Tokuda-Hall is the author Also an Octopus, illustrated by Benji Davies, The Mermaid, The Witch and The Sea, Squad, illustrated by Lisa Sterle, and Love in the Library illustrated by Yas Imamura with more books forthcoming. She lives in Oakland, California with her husband, son, and objectively perfect dog.
