Annual Classic Car Show & Parade
The streets of Downtown San Rafael will rumble to life once again as the awesome tradition of cruising Fourth Street returns for the 36th Annual May Madness Car Show & Parade on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
This iconic event, the longest-running car show and parade in Northern California, draws thousands of spectators and over 200 incredible vehicles, from classic cars and hot rods to customs, art cars, and beautifully restored originals.
Starting at noon, Fourth Street becomes a rad showcase of automotive history. Enjoy live music from the 50s and 60s, local food and beverages, and our Marin community celebrating one of its most cherished traditions.
At 5 PM, the parade rolls through downtown, bringing the spirit of cruising back to life. NEW THIS YEAR: A Retro-Inspired Mobile Photo Booth Experience – A vintage-style photo booth is housed inside a beautifully restored 1962 Ford Falcon named Captain. More than just a photo op, it’s part of the show, and a Memory Maker on Wheels.
Also this year: There will be special American Graffiti screenings at the Rafael Theater in conjunction with May Madness. The film’s iconic cruising scenes were shot right here on Fourth Street!
Trophies will be awarded for Best Paint, Best of Show, Best Hot Rod, the Greg Borrelli Memorial Award, Community’s Choice, and many more!
May Madness was founded over 30 years ago by Greg Borrelli to honor the legendary cruise nights of the 1950s, an era immortalized by George Lucas’ American Graffiti, filmed in part right here on Fourth Street in Downtown San Rafael.
The event is presented, planned, and executed by May Madness Inc and the San Rafael Business Improvement District (BID).
Join us for a roaring good time!
