The Santa Rosa Fire Department (SRFD) invites all to attend the 5th Annual Women in Public Safety Day on Sat., March 28th, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at SRFD’s Training Tower located 2126 W. College Avenue in Santa Rosa, CA with event parking at the Finley Center. This event will inspire women and girls to pursue careers in public safety as they interact with women working in law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, and other life safety services.
The schedule of live demonstrations will be announced in February but will include:
Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter, Henry 1, will land at the event site
SRFD Truck 1 will demonstrate ladder skills and tools
SRFD auto extrication demonstration
Public safety drone demonstration
SRFD forcible entry and rescue demonstration
SRPD K9 demonstration
Guests can also network and interact with over 20 guest agencies and get advice and feedback about resume building and interviewing. Local food and drink vendors will be selling lunch, snacks, and drinks on site.
“Our goal with Women in Public Safety Day is to show that gender identity does not factor into a rewarding career in the fire service, law enforcement, emergency medicine, public safety communications, community education, or behavioral health,” explains Santa Rosa Fire Chief Scott Westrope. “Everyone is invited to take part and enjoy this community event and hopefully start a fulfilling career in public safety”.
Women in Public Safety Day is open to all. No RSVP is needed. ALL ages and All are Welcome.
