Hamlet is a tragedy by William Shakespeare about the Prince of Denmark seeking revenge on his uncle, Claudius, who murdered Hamlet's father, seized the throne, and married his mother, Gertrude. The play follows Hamlet as he feigns madness, confirms his uncle's guilt through a play-within-a-play, and ultimately leads to a fatal duel where most of the main characters die from poison, including Hamlet, Gertrude, Claudius, and Laertes. It is one of Shakespeare's most famous and performed works, known for its exploration of revenge, madness, and mortality.
