As a global biodiversity hotspot, California has an immense array of nature to explore. We've compiled a few resources to guide folks in learning more about the nature around them, while contributing valuable data that can be used to answer important local conservation questions.

Join the Sudden Oak Death (SOD) Blitz at China Camp. This annual community science event, organized by researchers from U.C. Berkeley, invites community volunteers to help monitor the spread of the pathogen Phytophthora ramorum, the cause of Sudden Oak Death (SOD). The disease has devastated oak-and-bay forests throughout the West, including at China Camp.
We’ll explore how bats navigate and forage in total darkness, the important pest-control services they provide, and the conservation challenges they face. We’ll also discover how ultraviolet light reveals glowing arthropods such as scorpions and millipedes, uncovering a surprising and beautiful side of nighttime nature.
