#FleetWeekSF Celebration in San Francisco

OCTOBER 3 – 11, 2021

Ships, planes, pomp and celebrations honoring the men and women of our nation’s armed forces is making its return to the Bay Area this week! Fleet Week is back and taking the San Francisco Bay by storm kicking off the many exciting October events to come. The event runs from October 4 through October 13, and includes ships and planes from the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps participating in parades and air shows.

There are a ton of events taking place all week long but to help you easily navigate this Bay Area wide celebration, I've put together a list of my personal favorite ways for families to experience the festivities.

Air Show

Held annually between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, The San Francisco Fleet Week Air Show Presented by United attracts fans from all over the globe. The waterfront event is headlined by The U.S. Navy Blue Angels and is the only air show in the United States with a commercial airliner, the United 777, to perform a fully choreographed act.

Parade of Ships

Come see the Fleet enter the Bay under the Golden Gate Bridge as the visiting ships steam towards their ports, and Liberty Call for our honored Sailors and Marines. San Francisco Fleet Week hosts the largest Parade of Ships on the West Coast. The procession of ships can be seen from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge, with the reviewing stand at the Marina Green. San Francisco Fire Department will provide lead escort with their fire boat shooting jets of water into the air to celebrate the Fleet’s arrival.

Fleet Fest

San Francisco Fleet Week is excited to welcome you to the 2nd Annual Fleet Fest located at Pier 30/32 in the shadow of the Navy’s visiting flagship. Attracting over 10,000 festival attendees and visiting service members, this outdoor all-weekend family event will be a high energy interactive entertainment venue. Fleet Fest brings food vendors, music, and activities for our visiting Sailors & Marines and the general public. You won’t want to miss the Heroes Concert honoring our military and first responder community.

Humanitarian Assistance Village & STEM Center

October 8 - October 10, 2021
10:00 AM Marina Green

The Humanitarian Assistance Village (HAV) is an open-air interactive exhibition of the military’s disaster relief equipment including heavy machinery, communications equipment, search and rescue capabilities, underwater inspection and repair, field hospitals, and much more. Take your family around for a wonderful educational opportunity and see the airshow while you are there!

Families and their children will be able to learn about renewable energy, robotics, water desalination and purification techniques, and much more. Displays are designed to entertain and educate children of all ages.

K-9 Heroes: Bark at the Park

Saturday, October 9, 11am-1pm, Duboce Park, San Francisco

Whether in the field or in the home, military and civilian working dogs save and change lives. Fleet Week celebrates these K9 Heroes. In the center of San Francisco at Duboce Park, regional and national K9 services bring their stars to demonstrate their abilities, including therapy tasks, drug and food detection, law enforcement, and bomb detection. Come see how these four-legged friends have become heroes to so many.

Honor Our Fallen Concert

Please join us for the 2021 “Honor Our Fallen” Tribute Concert. This special performance by the United States Marine Corps 1st Marine Division Band is a poignant tribute to the service members who volunteered to defend their country and gave the ultimate sacrifice. The concert is FREE and open to the public. As seating is limited, please make reservations in advance. Check back in August for details on how to reserve your free ticket online.
