Individualized Education Rooted in Research and Results

Education for the individual is at the heart of the Winston Prep model. Each student’ s program is designed based on Winston ’ s understanding of the individual’ s learning profile, which is rooted in their pattern of strengths and challenges in the cognitive, academic, and social-emotional realms. These three areas of skill sets are interdependent, and our understanding and programming reflect the relationships among these skills. Winston Prep ’ s approach to social-emotional learning, individualization, and essential skill development leads to clear improvements in academic achievement and social-emotional capacities. While this approach may feel new, Winston Prep ’ s methods are rooted in years of evidence-based research and proven practice.

How Does Winston Prep’s Model Work?

● Continuous Feedback System: Your child is changing every day. At Winston Prep, so is their skill development plan. The Continuous Feedback System is designed to gain a deep understanding of each student, facilitating independence through continual assessment and analysis of a student’ s response to their individualized program.

● Focus Program: This program provides one-to-one remedial instruction for each student targeting individual goals in the areas of greatest need. Focus sessions are 45 minutes daily, and Focus teachers are the primary point of contact between families and schools.

● Skills that Matter: Developing a solid base of transferable skills–such as self-advocacy, resilience, and problem-solving–is essential for long-term success, both in life and learning. Winston Prep has identified eight key skill sets that correlate with postsecondary success, known as the Qualities of a Sustainable and Independent Learner (QSIL).
