Join us at Pepperwood for a walk through chaparral, oak woodland, and grassland habitats to slow down and appreciate our local biodiversity in celebration of CA Biodiversity Day 2026! Together, we will each strive to submit 30 species observations to iNaturalist to support CA’s 30x30 Initiative. Expert guidance on how to document species in iNaturalist will be offered by our Pepperwood staff, volunteers and alums from our UC Environmental Stewards and TeenNat programs. Be prepared for a hike with sturdy closed-toe shoes, water, long pants, sun protection and your smartphone with the iNaturalist app downloaded. Our hike will be at a slow pace, about 1.5 miles with mild elevation changes and on a dirt trail. We will begin and end our hike at our main building, the Dwight Center for Conservation Science.
