In-person workshop for parents and educators

“I can’t get my child off screens.” “How do I help them learn something that I don’t know?” “How do I support them when I am busy too?” “But what about Math?”...

We want so much for our children. We care deeply for them. But our constant managing of them is reducing their ability to thrive—it is making them less responsible, less self-reliant, less able to learn about their world and to connect to others in it, not more.

There is another way. Self-Directed and Co-Creative Learning helps us shift from managers to partners; from enforcers to co-creators; from dictators to advisors. With it, we learn to move away from “I know what you need. Do what I tell you, or else!” to operating from a place of “What are your goals, and how can I help?” It feels better to everyone involved, and gets better results.

In this workshop you will learn to:

• Act based on the principles of Self-Directed and Co-Creative Learning

• Foster capable, internally-driven learners

• Confidently support emergent, interest-based learning

• Recognize the wisdom in the natural tendencies of children

• Model equitable respect for boundaries

• Speak about Self-Directed Education in ways that are clear and compelling

Aaron Eden and Marta Kaltreider work with schools and learning communities around the world to re-humanize education.

This workshop is possible in part thanks to the collaboration with

Home Base, a community space for homeschool families.
