Independence Day in the South Bay
/ Ronnie SharpeCelebrating Independence Day in the South Bay means embracing a blend of vibrant community parades, family-focused festivals, and spectacular fireworks with a distinctive flair. From Morgan Hill’s Freedom Fest with its classic car cruise and pyrotechnic finale, and San Jose’s colorful Rose, White & Blue Parade followed by fireworks over Discovery Meadow, the region offers a rich tapestry of experiences. Whether you're picnicking by the water, watching a patriotic procession, or enjoying a symphony-and-fireworks concert in Mountain View, the South Bay delivers a festive and inclusive way to honor the Fourth of July.
The Rose, White & Blue Parade is a historic community celebration that brings together residents, businesses, and organizations of San José and the greater Bay Area in celebration of diversity, public spirit, and our floral and agricultural heritage.

That’s right, through pandemics, wars and depressions this parade has taken place in Morgan Hill every year for 150 years! As you can imagine we are making substantial plans to commemorate this event.
Enjoy the best view of the Fireworks Show, from the waters of Shoreline Lake! The Boathouse provides Park visitors with the most unique way in the Park (and the rest of Mountain View) to enjoy the fireworks – from a pedalboat, rowboat, canoe, single/double kayak or standup paddleboard in the middle of the Lake, with friends and family.
