A Special Microscopic Evening with Denise King of the Exploratorium

  • The Indie Alley 69 Bolinas Road Fairfax, CA, 94930 United States (map)

Join us for a unique night-time experience with Denise King, an Exhibit Designer at San Francisco’s Exploratorium and a Marin local.

We live in a golden age of microscopes, in which new forms, designs and applications for this fantastic tool are constantly being developed and employed.

This evening’s live demonstrations at the Indie Alley will celebrate, demonstrate and display a variety of magnification devices, from state of the art equipment and futuristic gadgets to homemade single lens scopes designed to see the invisible.

Over the course of the evening, Denise will have give a live demonstration of a range of special microscopes looking at samples gathered from the Grove across from the Indie Alley. Participants are also invited to bring anything they want to see up close.

Available on the evening will be a dissection scope that can be used to look at larger 3D items such as flowers, leaves, insects, seeds, etc., a little hand-held scope that can be used with a cellphone and a "fifty cent microscope": small, re-usable lenses that can be applied to cell phone cameras to take photos.

Adults and kids are both welcome for this event as we bring a taste of the Exploratorium to Fairfax.
